S2Maui’s 2025 model range marks the start of our 10th season and to celebrate, we are offering the most exciting and innovative one yet! We want to thank our loyal customers, distributors, shops and athletes, for your continued support which has allowed our brand to stay strong and continue to grow into the future together.

In 2015, S2Maui developed our original warp-oriented Technora™Spacelight™ fabric, together with Dimension Polyant, and launched it to the edge of Space (literally, 100,000 feet into the Stratosphere). Since that day we have continued to lead the way in innovative design and technical materials. In 2025, in addition to shaping evolution, our high-performance sail ranges will feature 2 construction options; Our original premium “Carbon-Tech” construction which uses both Warp-Path load-oriented panels of Technora™Spacelight™ and exciting new “Hyper-Blue” Spacelight Carbon, as well as the brand new super-premium “Ultra-HMPE” construction which uses a
revolutionary new woven Dyneema laminate that is the absolute lightest and strongest sail cloth currently available for windsurfing.

Dyneema, the world’s strongest fiber, has more than 15 times the strength of steel but is so light that it floats on water. Our Freeride sails share the technical advancements with new versions of “Light-
Film” and Technora™Spacelight™. All this technical innovation results in the lightest, strongest and most responsive sails and a performance experience for the S2Maui customer beyond compare.

We are proud to continue to support a talented team of riders and our R&D benefits from their testing feedback. It was amazing to see S2Maui rider Camille Juban win the PWA/IWT Chile World Cup wave event ahead of all the world’s top riders, demonstrating both his and our sails’ performance as the very best! After his win, Camille headed straight to Maui to help with testing, photoshoot and video for our 2025 sail range.

It’s also great to witness S2Maui rider and 2023 PWA Vice-World Champion Justine Lemeteyer, currently leading the 2024 AFF Funboard race rankings using the Venom and Eagle-FR Race sails that she participated in testing and developing. Talented S2Maui rider Lohan Jules showed the Venom race sail’s exceptional speed, winning the world’s largest windsurfing competition, Le Defi 2023 fin division and is still the reigning champion!

Ho’okipa regulars like Russ Faurot and Laurent Guillemin ensure constant “durability testing” for the wave gear. Former PWA World Champion Micah Buzianis, together with current PWA talents Justine, Lohan, Bob and Lars provide continuous Race testing feedback. Champions Norio Asano and Mio Anayama represent Japan. France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Greece, Finland and Portugal all have strong national teams! We appreciate our great team of riders and importers and are stronger working together.

INNOVATIONS AND ADVANTAGES

Premium WARP-PATH load-oriented Carbon and Technora SpaceLight™ comes standard with S2Maui and this leading edge material technology has been our trademark since we originally developed SpaceLight sail cloth 10 seasons ago.

Of course, years later some of the competitors are starting to follow, so they decided to raise the bar again by continuing to innovate with Carbon+Tech and ULTRA-HMPE technologies.

To achieve the goal of developing sails with the highest possible performance, lightest weight and exceptional strength, they worked closely with the world-leading sail cloth manufacturer to design and develop the ultimate super-light and strong laminate sail cloth, SpaceLight™Technora™ to be used exclusively with our original,
load oriented WARP-PATH™ Carbon+Tech sail construction.

New for 2025, we are introducing the exciting new HyperBlue Carbon Spacelight™ which combines extreme strength, virtually zero stretch Carbon fiber warp yarns throughout the material together with multi-directional stabilizing scrim and x-ply.

HyperBlue Carbon Spacelight™ perfectly distributes the high loads experienced at tack, clew and leech areas of the sail, allowing reduction of patch size and ensuring ideal sail shape is maintained under load.

Exciting brand new development for 2025 is the S2Maui ULTRAHMPE ™ super-premium construction which pushes the limits of extreme lightweight and strength to the next level utilizing the latest in high-tech Dyneema weave sail cloth.

CARBON+TECH CONSTRUCTION
SPACE LIGHT Sail Material

SpaceLight™ is S2Maui’s exclusive durable super-light and stable laminate sail cloth featuring warp oriented Technora™ and Carbon fibers.

S2Maui uses three different versions of SpaceLight™, each perfectly matched to the structural requirements in the given part of the sail.

  1. New HyperBlue Carbon Spacelight™: Extremely strong, durable and virtually zero stretch material with 3500 denier Carbon Fiber warp yarns plus multi-directional scrim and x-ply base giving it much
    better stability and durability compared to competitors. Used in highest load tack, clew and leech panels of the sail to perfectly control shape, provide incredible strength and allow for reduced patch size and weight
  2. Technora™ Spacelight™ UL: Superlight, strong and stretch resistant material with 100% Technora™ fiber warp and x-ply yarns. Used in upper and middle sail body panels for an amazing light feel and responsive handling.
  3. Technora™ Spacelight™ XTR: Medium-light weight material with Technora™ fiber. Used for durability in luff area.

S2MAUI’S SPACELIGHT ™ SAILCLOTH ADVANTAGE STILL AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION:

Not all sail materials are created equal. In addition to warp carbon and x-ply, S2Maui’s original HyperBlue Carbon SpaceLight™ adds a bi-directional scrim base giving it superior stability and durability. Also, Technora SpaceLight™ has actual Technora™ warp yarns which have three times the tensile strength and 4 time the stretch resistance of “similar looking” styles that only use cheap black polyester warp fibers.

  • STRONGER MATERIAL: Carbon warp fibers have eight times the tensile strength and Technora™ fibers used in warp and bias directions have three times the tensile strength of standard polyester fibers.
  • LIGHTER MATERIAL: Technora™ and scrim matrix combined with double-pass laminated, light weight films reduces weight by50% compared to standard 5 mil sail material. Technora™ SpaceLight™ is preferred in upper sail body because the thinner, low stretch Technora warp yarns allow for lower sail cloth weights compared to Polyester or even Carbon.
  • LESS STRETCH: Carbon warp fibers used in highest load areas have 10 times less stretch than Polyester. Technora™ fibers also have 4 times less stretch than Polyester. This is necessary for specific load-oriented panel configurations.
  • MORE DURABLE: The scrim base and extremely strong Carbon and Technora™ yarns develop incredible tear resistance. Double-pass lamination ensures a perfect bond with adhesive on both sides of the fibers and helps prevent delamination.
  • MORE UV RESISTANT: The opaque pigments on both sides of the laminate have outstanding UV resistance.

ULTRA CONSTRUCTION
ULTRA-HMPE™ Sail Material

New for 2025, the ULTRA-HMPE™ is S2Maui’s superpremium construction utilizing the latest in ultra-lightweight, high-tech sail cloth development. At only 85g/square meter, S2Maui’s ULTRA-HMPE™ is the absolute lightest and most tear resistant sail cloth currently available for Windsurf sail construction

  1. ULTRA-HMPE™ features an insanely strong fully woven Dyneema ultra high modulus polyethylene base cloth laminated together with Technora™ X-ply and a superlight film.
  2. Dyneema is the world’s strongest fiber–15 times stronger than steel–but so light that it floats on water.
  3. 65-70% lighter than industry standard X-ply and 40% lighter than most other brands’ “light weight” materials, while possessing much higher tear strength.
  4. Not just a few Dyneema fibers, but a 100% Dyneema woven cloth with incredible tensile strength, tear resistance and superlightweight.
  5. Warp-oriented to work perfectly with S2Maui’s original WARP-PATH™ load-oriented panel layouts, evenly distributing tension throughout the sail body.

WARP-PATH

The original load-oriented technical fiber panel construction, WARP-PATH™ is S2Maui’s functional and
unique panel layout. WARP-PATH™ aligns SpaceLight™ warp oriented Carbon and Technora™ fibers along
load paths in the sail body. Similarly, in ULTRA-HMPE construction, warp-oriented woven Dyneema cloth is
load aligned.

  • LIGHTER SAILS: In Carbon+Tech construction, the strength of load-oriented Carbon and Technora™ fibers in super light SpaceLight™ material allows for reduction in patch size which results in a weight of finished sails 10-20% below industry standard. In our new extreme light weight ULTRA-HMPE construction, finished sails weigh 25-35% below industry standard.
  • STRONGER SAILS: In Carbon+Tech construction, load-oriented panels with high strength Carbon and Technora™ warp yarns distribute tension in high stress areas and create an incredibly strong sail body and perimeter. Carbon fibers used in foot, clew and lower leech have 8x higher tensile strength compared to Polyester. Double-pass lamination ensures long term durability. In ULTRA-HMPE construction, woven 100% Dyneema offers the greatest tear resistance of any windsurf sail cloth currently in use.
  • PERFECT BALANCE AND STABILITY: The WARP-PATH™ engineered panel layout locates each technical material in its optimum location to distribute forces throughout the sail body. In Carbon+Tech construction, 10x more stretch-resistant Carbon fiber is load-oriented in the high tension tack, clew and lower leech zones, ensuring perfect shape integrity and improving stability and range. Superlight Technora™ fibers are oriented according to twist and perimeter loads throughout the remainder of the sail body, creating a balanced skin tension and a smooth rig response. In ULTRA-HMPE construction, the exceptional tensile properties of the woven Dyneema cloth, when load-oriented according to our WARP-PATH™ panel layout, perfectly distribute tension resulting in a superlight, stable and responsive feeling.
  • MORE RESPONSIVE HANDLING: In Carbon+Tech construction, HyperBlue Carbon SpaceLight™
    panels in the tack, clew and lower leech area more directly transmit energy and give the sail an amazing,
    responsive feeling that has to be experienced. Superlight weight and low stretch SpaceLight™Technora™, oriented along twist and perimeter loads allow for an extremely quick sail twist reflex dynamic. In ULTRAHMPE construction the incredible light weight of the Dyneema weave laminate provides amazingly light and responsive handling.
